Guidelines for Funding from IEEE Madras Section

IEEE MADRAS SECTION provides financial support for the organising Workshops, FDP, STTP, Symposiums, Seminars, etc., of technical nature, which may be of interest to IEEE members. IEEE SBs involved in technical activities of interest to IEEE members are eligible to apply for the funding. A soft copy of the filled-in application form (in pdf format) must be sent to the IEEE Madras Section office as an e-mail attachment at least three months before the event date. The hard copy of the application is also to be sent to the Section Office within a week of the email of the soft copy. The application is to be filled in by the Executive Authority of the Parent Organization and countersigned by IEEE SB Counsellor of the Institution.

1. SB Funding

Active IEEE SB (with at least 12 active members) are eligible to get financial support from IEEE MAS for conducting IEEE events for the benefit of students and professionals. A completed application in the prescribed format should be submitted to IEEE Madras Section and upon approval from Section Chairman, the funds will be released to the concerned college. For every amount received, a proper acknowledgment, proceeding/event report as per Newsletter guidelines and utilisation certificate signed both by SB counsellor and Principal should be submitted to the office.

The details of permissible funding based on SB strength is given below. However, the maximum funds for one event shall be restricted to Rs. 20000/- in order to encourage colleges, having more IEEE members, to conduct more programs. The funding option is available by IEEE SB and the request has to be forwarded by SB counsellor.

2. Norms for Section Society Chapter / AG funding

IEEE MAS will provide partial financial support to Section Society chapters and the maximum amount in one year is Rs. 15000/-. The funding is to encourage the Society chapters to organise more events. Therefore the funds will be released in instalments of Rs. 5000/- for every two events organised by the Society Chapter.

Apart from event based funding (Maximum of Rs. 15000/-), IEEE MAS encourages membership development also. After six events are completed and Rs. 15000/- is claimed, additionally, IEEE MAS will support up to Rs. 10000/- based on membership for subsequent events. This will be based on submitting a request with budget details.

In case an event is organised jointly with other Society chapters of IEEE MAS, only the primary Society Chapter will receive the funds based on the abovesaid norms.

Transfer of funds shall be notified to the society chairman and he/she shall acknowledge the same and also submit the proceeding/event report as per Newsletter guidelines. A utilisation certificate signed by Society chapter Chairman should be submitted to the office.

AG will be given financial support by IEEE MAS for organising events up to Rs. 20000/- in one calendar year in two installments of Rs. 10000/- each. This will be based on submitting a request with budget details. For every amount received, a proper acknowledgment, proceeding/event report as per Newsletter guidelines and utilisation certificate signed by concerned AG chair have to be submitted to the office.
