The Student Professional Awareness Conference (SPAC) is a formal event that aims to bridge the gap between students and their career goals. It provides the student delegates with an opportunity to interact with resource persons form industry, academia and IEEE. The student delegates learn from the varied experiences of the resource persons.
First introduced in 1979, SPACs are an effective vehicle to increase professional awareness and enhance technical education students receive in engineering school. The IEEE Student Branch at SASTRA, conducted SPAC on March 8, 2014 with over 220 participants from various institutions.
IEEE SASTRA University Student Branch is proud to bring forward its second edition of SPAC, on a much larger scale. SPAC 2016 will be a two day event, on March 19th and 20th, 2016.
SPAC 2016 will have over 10 resource persons, from various fields. They will be covering on various topics such as entrepreneurship, Women in Engineering and Technology, IEEE, Importance of Professional Societies for an engineering student, Research and Higher Studies, Internship Preparation etc.

The IEEE student branch of Sri Sairam Engineering College is a branch woven with dynamism and we have come a long way since its establishment in the year 1999.Over the past years we have been involved in numerous seminars and industrial visits to make our association with this giant organization a meaningful one.
The objective of starting IEEE Student branch was to create awareness about the day today technological developments and to make them to utilize the resources available in IEEE. And to make most of our student members involve themselves in publishing research papers and projects.
In 2015,IEEE SSEC SB won the “DARREL CHONG STUDENT ACTIVITY AWARD FOR THE PROGRAM – i-VISION” and “IEEE STUDENT ENTERPRISE AWARD” for the project “Capacitive Deionization based Water Desalination System using an MPPT based Solar Charge Controller” by the Sai Shankar, Pranav Pattabi and Kiran Raj.
